Leading Without Fear: How Aligned Coaching Helped A Neurodiversity Consultant Reclaim Her Voice

What happens when the person leading conversations about inclusion realizes they still have more to unlearn?

For Pasha Marlowe, this realization led her to seek support, rather than shy away from hard conversations.

Pasha isn’t new to leadership. As a consultant who specializes in creating neuroinclusive cultures, she helps organizations improve intergenerational communication, connection, and collaboration. Pasha coaches leaders, speaks on stages, and facilitates conversations that destigmatize mental health and neurodiversity. Her work is informed by her values of inclusion, connection, community, agency, family, and adventure. Despite the meaningful work she was doing, Pasha found herself feeling unsettled after receiving feedback that her framing of neurodiversity felt Eurocentric, limited, and whitewashed. She realized there were gaps in her understanding of privilege, power, hierarchy, and intersectionality.

“It’s vulnerable to be in the inclusion space as a thought leader and not be fully aware.”

Initially, Pasha started playing it safe because she was afraid of doing something wrong, causing harm, or being publicly called out. She started to worry that she wasn’t suited to do the work she’d been so passionate about. She softened her messaging, glossed over topics related to racism and ableism, and essentially delivered what she called “neurodiversity light” presentations. Pasha’s business wasn’t deeply impacted by her choice, but she felt misaligned by not leading at the level of integrity she wanted.

The Desire to Lead Better

Pasha didn’t need a branding refresh, a louder marketing strategy, or better optics. She needed space to process, learn, unlearn, and integrate her understanding of power, privilege, hierarchy, and intersectionality. She wanted to embody inclusion, rather than perform it.

Pasha intentionally sought to work with someone who could compassionately challenge her and hold nuanced conversations. She tried learning in speaker communities, business coaching, following and working with popular, high-profile leadership voices, but none of it provided the depth she needed.

When Pasha was introduced to me, she was initially cautious–not just because of the investment, but because the work felt vulnerable and required her to make a commitment to show up consistently. She also questioned herself:

  • What if her growth was too slow?
  • What if she embodied the patterns she was trying to dismantle?
  • What if she was exhausting to work with?

But Pasha recognized the real ROI was having more personal alignment with her values. She wasn’t just trying to be a better speaker or a more inclusive consultant. She wanted to be a better human.

“You’re not just paying to make your business better. You’re learning to be a better person and that’s worth a lot.”

From Performance to Embodiment

Pasha initially expected coaching to be tactical–updating her website, refining inclusive language, and adjusting her messaging.

Instead, the work focused inward to examine how her identity influenced her leadership and business.

We explored:

  • How power and privilege show up in her messaging
  • Where fear was shaping her visibility
  • What it means to embody inclusion instead of perform it
  • How to use her platform responsibly while amplifying other voices
  • How to be present while learning without shutting down

Pasha reflected that it was unfamiliar territory as someone who was almost always doing the coaching.

“To show up messy, unprepared, vulnerable—and not have to mask or hold space for anyone else—that’s priceless.”

Pasha reflected that it felt like therapy because of the psychological safety in my trauma-informed approach. She didn’t worry about her vulnerability being used against her or being shamed for not knowing enough. She was able to ask questions when she made mistakes and get clarity with compassionate accountability.

For someone with ADHD, showing up and staying engaged can be challenging, especially when reflection felt heavy or overwhelming, but Pasha never felt like she wanted to disengage. She became more curious, aligned, and relaxed as she noticed the work becoming more integrated.

The Shift: Calm, Clarity, Confidence

Now, Pasha feels calmer, clearer, and confident in talking about racism, ableism, and systemic inequities when raising awareness or advocating for systemically oppressed people.

Pasha’s internal shift led to:

  • Less imposter syndrome
  • Less fear of messing up
  • More intentional language
  • More proactive engagement with diverse voices
  • A tangible sense of bravery and willingness to amplify others

“I trust myself more.”

That trust changed the way people responded to her. As she became more relaxed and confident in her leadership, others opened up more to share their experiences. The conversations are deeper; and the impact is more relational, connected, and human.

“I feel like I could talk for three hours about inclusion and neuroinclusion now.”

Leadership Rooted in Integrity

Pasha chose growth over comfort through leadership development rooted in social justice and emotional intelligence. She now has the tools to keep learning about, advocating for, and amplifying diverse voices and experiences without shrinking in shame or fear of getting it wrong.

Pasha’s story highlights just some of the many benefits of Aligned Coaching.

“It is hard to put into words the transformation Crystal helped facilitate and co-create with me both personally and professionally.
